How to connect two laptop using a,lan cable for playing multiplayer lan games?

Connect the first and second laptop by using a crossover Ethernet cable. Attach one end of the cable to the Local Area Network (LAN) port or the Ethernet port of the first computer and connect the other end of the cable to the LAN or Ethernet port of the second computer.

Make the two laptops belong to the same "workgroup" by clicking on "Start" and right clicking on "My Computer." Select "Properties" and click on the "Computer Name" tab. Select the "Change" option, which is beside "To rename a computer... ." Under "Workgroup," change the name of the workgroup to make the two computers belong to the same one, and click "OK" when you are finished.

Configure the IP addresses of the two computers by going to "Control Panel" and then to "Network Connections." Right click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties," then "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click on "Properties" again.

Type in 192.168.1.1 under "IP address" for the first computer, and 192.168.1.2 for the second computer. For the "Subnet Mask" type 255.255.255.0 for both computers. Leave the "Default Gateway" blank and click on "OK." Restart the computer. Your computers are now linked.
